The Chance to 'Appear and Die' in George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones Has Gone

You may have heard that George R.R. Martin and Prizeo had teamed up to give two well-off Game of Thrones fans the chance to have a character names after them in his upcoming novel from the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series.

The list of prizes is extensive, and the most common donation is the one Martin talks most of on the Prizeo page itself; enter for the chance to go and see the author at his home in New Mexico, then take a helicopter trip to the wolf sanctuary where all the money donated will be going.

But there was also the “incredibly exclusive opportunity to have George name a character after you in a future A Song of Ice and Fire novel,” up for grabs. It cost $20k. “There is one male character and one female character available. You can choose your character's station in the world (lordling, knight, peasant, whore, lady, maester, septon, anything) and you will certainly meet a grisly death! You will also get all of the above rewards (with the exception of "extra rewards")” read the post for the most expensive entry.

That’s now over: the page reads ‘0/2 available’ meaning two rich GoT fans are about to have their wildest dreams realised, plus they get all the other swag listed above. They should probably be removed from the helicopter ride competition, though, that’s just not fair.

Game of Thrones recently became HBO’s most popular show of all time, surpassing The Sopranos’ average viewing figure high. It’s no surprise, given the viewership garnered by HBO and the epic, sprawling fantasy drama. "Raise a glass of Arbor gold. #GameofThrones is the most popular series in @HBO history. Thanks to the worldwide realm for all your support," tweeted the show.
