Is there anyone left who hasn’t seen Disney’s 'Frozen'?
The success of Disney’s Frozen just keeps on getting bigger, as the film is now officially the fifth highest grossing movie of all time, worldwide.
Disney's Frozen is now the fifth highest grossing movie of all time
Thanks to an 11th week on top of the Japanese box office, which saw the animated flick take another $7.2 million, Frozen knocked Iron Man 3 out of the all time top 5 after its earnings rose to an amazing $1.219 billion.
Its success in Japan, where it has been released as Anna to Yuki no Jou (Anna and the Snow Queen), means it is now the country’s fourth highest grossing movie ever, taking $15.6 million at their box office so far.
But Frozen still has a way to go if it wishes to take the number four spot in the worldwide top five. It’s currently held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 which took over $1.341 billion in 2011. With Frozen's cinematic run soon coming to an end, it looks as if Deathly Hallows can probably rest easy, for now.
Since its release in November of last year, Frozen has become one of Disney’s biggest critical and commercial successes. It was awarded the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and also took home the Best Original Song award for ‘Let it Go.’ It’s soundtrack has also been certified platinum in the US after selling over 2.6 million copies and topping the Billboard album chart for thirteen non-consecutive weeks.
