Frank Ocean - Torn Vocal Cord Forces Frank Ocean To Cancel Australian Tour

Frank Ocean’s Australian tour, which was scheduled to go on through to the end of July, has now been cancelled.

The singer was scheduled to play three more dates, with the main one being his gig at Splendour on the Grass this Sunday. Unfortunately, that show, along with the two remaining Australian gigs – at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Monday and Tuesday – have also been cancelled, due to a tear in the singer’s vocal cord.

The singer apologised to fans for the sub-par performance.

"After last night's concert . . . it was necessary to seek medical advice due to vocal issues Frank Ocean experienced during the show," said tour promoter Live Nation after the Thursday show, during which Ocean suffered noticeable throat problems. He reportedly closed the show without an encore, according to Billboard. He then said to the crowd, “I don’t wanna speak much tonight but I do wanna thank you guys,” before the houselights came up.

Frank Ocean, Brit Awards
The entire remainder of the Australian tour has been scrapped.

During the gig, which was the first of the singer’s Australian tour, the audience reported that Ocean was not on top form and that he was singing off key.Well, that at least goes to show that he wasn’t lipsyncing.

There has been no comment on whether the problem will affect Ocean’s later tour dates in – at Oceaga Festival in Montreal and in Toronto. The cancelled shows had been sold out. No word yet on when and how the tickets will be refunded.

Frank Ocean, Grammy Awards
The rest of the tour will go ahead as planned.
