Former Co-Host Of 'The View,' Elizabeth Hasselbeck, "Shocked" At Sherri Shepherd's Departure
The former co-host of the talk show was initially "shocked" by her close friend's decision to walk away from the position she has had since 2007.
Sherri Shepherd's sudden decision to leave 'The View' isn't just a surprise to the viewers.
Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who co-hosted the daytime program from 2003 until 2013, was also "shocked, in some ways," at her former colleague's departure.
The 37 year-old TV personality spoke of Shepherd's sudden career move while hosting 'Fox & Friends' on Friday morning (June 27th), and explained, "you know, I'm sure, even though you think that might happen someday, I'm sure it would come across to be a shock."
Sherri, who has been a permanent co-host since September 2007, decided to depart from 'The View' because "there were negotiations but they were unable to reach an agreement," an insider revealed.
"I haven't spoken to her in person yet," Hasselbeck said. "Set to happen, though."
But this will not remain in the case for long as the two woman have remained close friends since Hasselbeck left the ABC morning show last year. Shepherd even appeared on the 'Fox & Friends' debuting episode last September and gave her BFF some congratulatory gifts to celebrate the new job.
"We're, like, attached at the hip," Shepherd said at the time. "We're like the chocolate and vanilla...Oh, I'm gonna be here all the time."
This actually could happen now as she suddenly has quite a lot of free time on her hands. Upon Shepherd announcing her exit from 'The View' on June 26th, the longtime host said, "It's been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on."
Adding, "I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey."
Jenny McCarthy also confirmed her departure not long after, announcing the news via Twitter. "If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters," the 41 year-old tweeted. "My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."
