Christine McVie To Hit The Road With Fleetwood Mac, In Long-Awaited Reunion

Fleetwood Mac have announced that not only has Christine McVie joined the band's line-up but that they are headed on a full North American tour and are working on a new album. The band have confirmed the rumours themselves, leaving the scores of Fleetwood Mac fans both in North American and worldwide excited for more material and live appearances from the British-American rockers.

"I have very high hopes for all of this," guitarist Lindsey Buckingham told USA Today, adding "We've only been in the studio a week, and it's been really beautiful," she said. Buckingham spoke of how Christine had been getting reacquainted with the piano, having not performed professionally for so long.

"It took getting into the studio before we started to see things unfold in an effective and comfortable way. Christine was not sure how her voice was going to be. It will be a little bit of a slow process with her piano chops. But all the stuff inside her is still intact, and she's getting in touch with a process that's been lying dormant for a while," the 64 year-old revealed.

McVie joined the band in 1970 and was responsible for some of the group's biggest hits, including 'Say You Love Me,' 'Don't Stop,' 'You Make Loving Fun' and 'Little Lies.' After three decades of success with the group, the English singer and keyboardist left in 1998 due to what she has today revealed to be a fear of flying.

Speaking about her 15-year-hiatus, the 70 year-old said: "There were times I didn't touch a piano for months. "There were dry spells, but I'm not worried about it. The chemistry is great. Obviously, I've got to relearn all those songs to get my muscle memory working."

The last time McVie performed with the band was during a guest slot on stage at London's O2 arena last autumn to sing 'Don't Stop,' which she described as "an emotional experience." McVie's return will mark reunion for the Rumours-era members of the line-up-changing group as she takes her place alongside singer Stevie Nicks, guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie.

Fleetwood Mac's On With The Show tour will kick off on the 30th September in Minneapolis and conclude on the 20th December in Tampa.
