Fitz And The Tantrums And Foster The People Rocked Up A Treat At Sweetlife 2014

Sweetlife festival proved its worth with a fantastic day of quality music and incredible food at the weekend, with Foster the People and Fitz & the Tantrums among the clear highlights of the Maryland event.

We're tempted to jump on the pun bandwagon and talk about how 'sweet' Sweetlife festival was last weekend - but we'll try and avoid it. Though speaking of such, the food was an important feature of the whole day (May 10th 2014) with one memorable fact being Astro Doughnuts' batch of 2,000 of their famous sugary treat. Obviously, there were plenty of happy faces before the music even began.

This year the event was headlined by Lana Del Rey and Foster The People, and while they both delivered mind-blowing sets, the latter really succeeded in thrilling the crowd with their closing performance despite the unfortunate rainstorm that befell them towards the evening. It wouldn't have mattered if a tornado had struck, however - this was a crowd that were certainly not moving before the indie pop trio had finished.

Another obvious highlight was Irish singer Hozier, whose vocals stunned his enraptured audience from the first note. Songs like 'Take Me to Church' and 'To Be Alone' drew tears from the eyes of many festival goers - and one can be almost certain that he won over a few new fans over the weekend.

Fitz & the Tantrums blasted out an exhilarating set, with single 'The Walker' being an obvious favourite. But it was the unbelievably funky rendition of Eurythmics' smash hit 'Sweet Dreams' that seemed to impress the crowd the most. While they truly brought out a major feeling of cool throughout the day, the artist that amped it up to the fullest was Georgia rapper 2 Chainz, who probably made a few happy fans feel special with his track 'Birthday Song'.

Listen to another live rendition of 'Sweet Dreams' by Fitz & the Tantrums:

So, even in spite of bleak weather, the doughnuts and the eclectic line-up sure cooked up a real treat for everyone rocking out in the Merriweather Post Pavilion.
