The teen drama, starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, easily beats the likes of 'Maleficent' and 'Edge of Tomorrow' at this weekend's box office.
In a rare occurrence, cinemagoers flock to see a heart-warming teen drama rather than a big blockbuster epic. 'The Fault In Our Stars', Starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, scores No.1 on its opening weekend at the box office.

The romantic-comedy, based on the novel of the same name by John Green, surged straight to the top by earning an impressive $48.2 million domestically.
Woodley takes on the challenge role that doesn't require her to play the typical, clean-cut female lead Hollywood usually offers. The 22 year-old actress portrays a cancer stricken teenager who falls in love with Augustus Waters, after meeting at a support group.
It seems that love was in the air this weekend as Tom Cruise's new sci-fi epic 'Edge of Tomorrow,' starring Emily Blunt, could only debut at No.3 by garnering nearly $20 million less than 'Fault In Our Stars' with $29. 1 million.
