Will Sam Riley [L] and Eddie Redmayne [R] Score The 'Dr Doom' Role?

According to The Wrap, casting directors have singled out Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne, Toby Kebbell and Domhnall Gleeson as the final four. A fifth actor, Jack Huston, was also in the mix a couple of weeks back though it's unclear whether it remains a possibility.

Sam Riley, from Leeds, England, got his big break in 2007 starring as Joy Division singer Ian Curtis in Anton Corbijn's masterful biopic Control. He's since landed a couple of high profile projects since then, in On The Road and Maleficient.

Eddie Redmayne is very much an actor of the moment though, until now, he's been used mostly in period features likes Elizabeth, The Golden Age, The Other Boleyn Girl, My Week With Marilyn and Les Miserables. He did star in the Oscar-nominated Les Miserables and has some brief sci-fi experience from his work on the Wachowski's on Jupiter Ascending

Toby KebbellDomhnall Gleeson
How About Toby Kebbell [L] or Domhnall Gleeson [R]?

Toby Kebbell is another Yorkshire-born English actor with plenty of blockbuster experience, from Prince of Persia, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Wrath of the Titans and the upcoming Planet of the Apes movie, and Warcraft. He starred alongside Riley as Rob Gretton in Control and played Paddy Considine's brother in the classic Dead Man's Shoes. We'd probably tip him as the best candidate for the role.

Lastly, Domhnall Gleeson - the son of Brendan - is an Irish actor who rose to fame playing Bill Weasley in the last two Harry Potter films. He won acclaim for his turn in Richard Curtis' About Time and recently completed work on Alex Garland's sci-fi thriller Ex Machina. Though clearly a quality actor with tons of potential - does Gleeson have the chops to play the villain?
