Emma Stone is reportedly going to be the next Hollywood star to take her talents to a live stage production. The 25 year-old actress is in talks to make her Broadway debut in ‘Cabaret’ as Michelle Williams’ replacement.
Stone is set to replace Michelle Williams as 'Sally Bowles'
If Stone successfully lands this new role, she will be playing in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of the famous musical as Sally Bowles, the character Williams also took on in her Broadway debut.
‘The Amazing Spider Man’ actress’s rep confirmed the exciting news to NY Daily News on Monday (Aug 11th), saying, "Emma Stone is in negotiations to make her Broadway debut as 'Sally Bowles' in 'Cabaret' on Broadway at Roundabout Theatre Company.”
Stone will most likely take on the role this coming fall as "Michelle Williams recently extended her run as 'Sally Bowles' opposite Alan Cumming as 'Emcee' through November 9," the spokesperson added.
The ‘Super Bad’ actress was previously attached to the production but due to conflicting schedules she had to drop out, according to Arts Beats. But this won’t be the first time Stone has worked in theatre, although she is well known for her film and television work, as a student she regularly performed at Valley Youth Theater, a children’s company in Phoenix.
Stone replacing Williams is expected to be the only change in the cast, Alan Cummings will still play Emcee, and Linda Emond as Fraulein Schneider and Danny Burstein as Herr Schultz will also remain the same.
