Eminem "Shocks The World" With Killer Set At G-Shock New York Party
The rapper took the stage for a tour de force, spanning most of his career.
Eminem might be busy working on a new 2013 album, but if he is, he sure isn’t letting anything slip. Meanwhile, as various music columns speculate on Shady’s 2013 offering, the rapper seems content to perform the kind of career-spanning sets that seem more at place at the end of an artist’s run, than right before an album – not that we’re implying anything, of course.
The set was all the more precious for marking one of Shady's rare appearances of late.
This past Wednesday night, Eminem performed just that kind of extended set at G-Shock's "Shock The World" party in New York. The brand also announced the upcoming release of Eminem’s own, limited edition Detroit-themed watch later this year, MTV reports. The announcement was slightly overshadowed, however, by Eminem taking the stage to perform some of his greatest hits, from Marshall Mathers tracks like 'Kill You' and 'Stan' to Recovery's 'No Love.'
His latest was at last weekend's Lollapalooza.
Former D12 bandmate Mr. Porter was there in support, but Shady’s performance was a solo one, for the most part. The Shady Records family was out in full force to show their support — including Obie Trice, who watched from the VIP section – but it was only Royce Da 5' 9'', who teamed up with Shady for their Bad Meets Evil collaboration 'Lighters.'Before the show, Shady tweeted to his fans:
While multiple hints have been dropped this year that Shady is working on a new release, not dates or album titles have been announced yet. As for the G-Shock wristwatch, it will hit stores this December, The piece is reportedly engraved with his reverse "E" logo and an autograph that reads "Shady," while the wristband features an outline of the Detroit skyline.
No news about the album, unfortunately.
