Ellie Goulding Hopes To Be Victorious At This Year's Brit Awards But Admits: "I'm Good At Loosing"
2014 Brit Awards: Although Ellie Goulding has received a nod in three categories, the 27 year-old tries to remain pessimistic: "if I don't [win] I won't be surprised. I have learnt not to get my hopes up."
The 27 year-old has received a nomination in the categories for Best Female, Best Single and Best Video.
But she realizes the competition is steep and isn't getting her hopes up for any of the prizes.
"I'm definitely a pro at dealing with not winning," she told UK newspaper The Sun.
"I've been to a lot of awards now where I haven't won. Who knows if I'll win at the BRITS. Fingers crossed, but if I don't I won't be surprised. I have learnt not to get my hopes up."
However, despite the pessimistic attitude Goulding is definitely a front runner, 2013 saw her achieve her very first UK No.1 single with 'Burn'. The song is from her re-released 'Halcyon Days' studio set, which contained ten additional tracks.
The 'How Long Will I Love You' singer does manage to remain humble and is just grateful to be named in the same company as her fellow nominees.
"I feel lucky to be in the Best Female category with four other amazing people. I'm honoured to be in a world where I'm able to attend these award ceremonies. It's nuts," she said.
Ellie has won the Brit Critic's Choice Award in the past, but failed to win Best Female and Best Breakthrough in 2011.
Hopefully this will be her year, and is she could choose, 'Burn' will be honored at the award ceremony.
"I would love Burn to win Best Single, I'm so proud of that song." Goulding admitted. "I hear it everywhere and it never annoys me, even if it might annoy other people. That's really rare and I love performing it because it makes people's faces light up."
Goulding is nominated for three Brit awards
