As we speculated back in October, Dolly Parton is to be confirmed to perform at Glastonbury 2014. The "9 to 5" singer is likely to appear in the Sunday Legends slot on the Pyramid Stage, previously filled by Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey and Ray Davies.

It would mark the 67-year-old's debut appearance at the legendary festival at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.

"Dolly is perfect for the Sunday Legends slot. It didn't take any convincing - she's always wanted to play Glastonbury," a source told The Sun newspaper.

It was never difficult to figure out that Parton would probably be heading to Worthy Farm. The UK leg of her tour sees Parton heading to London's O2 Arena over the Glastonbury weekend, but she has nothing scheduled for Sunday.

The source added: "It is being kept free deliberately. She'll get a helicopter straight down on Sunday, or maybe even Saturday after the show."

The country singer has already announced plans for her new album, Blue Smoke. The singer will release the record in Australia on 31 January 2014 to coincide with her headlining tour in the country.

Parton will join the two other major acts confirmed the Glastonbury 2014 line-up, Arcade Fire and Lily Allen. The Canadian rockers are likely to headline the Pyramid stage. Elbow and Pixies remain strong rumours, while Foo Fighters, Kanye West, Adele and David Bowie have been mentioned.

Next year's Glastonbury Festival runs from Wednesday 25th to Sunday 29th June 2014.
