Disney and Pixar have signalled that the era of animation movies is on its way back as two new sequels are announced.

'The Incredibles', a film about retired superheroes being forced back into action to save the world, is expected to get a sequel almost ten years after it was first released, which earned $631 million worldwide.

Walt Disney Company chief Bob Iger made the announcement this Tuesday (March 18th), during the company's shareholders meeting in Portland, Oregon, but didn't reveal any other information, Variety reports.

Iger stated, "We have plans for a new Cars movie and on top of that Brad Bird is already working on a great story for a new Incredibles film."

Bird, who wrote and directed the first 'Incredibles' film, has stated in the past that he is hesitant to revisit the animated feature film.

According to Slashfilm, he said at 2007 WonderCon, "Pixar does not look at sequels as a financial plan. We feel we have a relationship with the audience and that they believe in each movie we put out. We believe completely in every movie we put out. If I can come up with a story that is as good or better than that first film, then I'd love to return to that world, but it would have to be story first."

The news was also confirmed by the official Twitter account of DisnyePixar, the post read, "It's official: we're currently working on new films featuring your favorite characters from The Incredibles and Cars!"

Disney has had huge success with animations recently as their hugely success film 'Frozen' won an Oscar at this year's ceremony for Best Animation Feature Film.
