'Princess Anna' (Bell), the future Queen of Arendelle, along with mountain man 'Kristoff' (Groff) races against time to prevent her sister, 'Elsa' (Menzel), from unwittingly turning the kingdom into an eternally icy realm, along the way 'Anna' meets new friends and learns vital life lessons.
The Disney animation has now earned a domestic total of $317,319,106 and a worldwide tally of $711,919,100, according to Box Office Mojo.
The movie's soundtrack is the fourth animated musical to reach No.1 on the Billboard 200 album chart in its 56 year existence, following Disney's 'The Lion King' (1994) and 'Pocahontas' (1995), as well as Jack Johnson's 'Curious George' (2006).
Walt Disney CEO and chairman Bob Iger was recently interview by Fortune, which was released this past Monday (Jan 13th), and he revealed the news behind turning 'Frozen' into a Broadway musical.
'Frozen's' soundtrack reached No.1 on the Billboard 200
Iger stated that there is no secluded date or time-frame for the beginning of the musical, "We're not demanding speed," he says. "We're demanding excellence."
The success of 'Frozen' also indicates Disney's emergence from the shadow of rival animation company Pixar, "If you think long term about what Disney is and the success and the vitality of the brand, this is a very, very important event," said Iger.
This will not be the first time Disney has adapted one of its animated film's into a stage production, 'Beauty and the Beast', 'The Lion King', 'Aladdin' and The Little Mermaid', have all seen their cartoon characters brought to life on Broadway.
