Samson tweeted on Saturday, 'Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called The Endless River. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful.’ Details of the album, the band’s first in 20 years, were being kept under wraps, but it seems Polly was unaware of the secrecy.

Writer Samson has been married to Gilmour since 1994 and co-wrote with him on the band’s last album, 1994’s The Division Bell. While Warner. the bands label are yet to confirm the release, straight.com are reporting that the band’s management team “weren’t thrilled” with Samson for breaking news of the new album.

However backing vocalist Durga McBroom-Hudson, who toured with the band in the 1980s and 1990s, has confirmed Samson’s tweet writing on her Facebook page, "Yes there is a new Pink Floyd album coming out and I’m on it.” She also uploaded a photo from a recording session offering further proof.

It is thought that most of the material for the ‘new’ album was written around the same time as Division Bell, with keyboardist Rick Wright. Wright had been reinstated into the band before the Division Bell recordings in 1994. He passed away in 2008 after battling cancer.

There’s also no word on wether or not Roger Waters will feature on the album, but it seems unlikely given his last recorded appearance with the band was in 1983.
