Coachella Line-up Sees Outkast Return Alongside Muse and Arcade Fire
Finally, the Outkast guys are back
It doesn’t seem right to be talking about the international headliners set to grace sun-drenched climes of Coachella 2014, not when January still plagues us so. But with Andre 3000 and Big Boi set to make a return as Outkast, there isn’t a lot else to talk about.
Andre 3000 and Big Boi are working together again
It’s confirmed: Outkast will be headlining the festival alongside Muse and Arcade fire in a line-up stellar enough to rival the world famous Glastonbury, which is also set to be headlined by the recently returned Reflektors.
The festival’s social media outlets were the first to break the news, with Coachella’s Twitter posting a picture of line-up. “Share it like a polaroid picture! OutKast, Muse, Arcade Fire + more #Coachella” read the post. You’ll also be able to catch Queens of the Stone Age, Pharrell, Beck, Lana Del Rey, Motorhead and the Replacements, as well as newcomers HAIM, Lorde and Disclosure if you’re lucky enough to get a ticket.
Dre and Big Boi have famous endured a troubled working relationship together, despite coming up with some of the most memorable and seminal hip hop albums of all time. Their last album – Idlewild – was seven years ago, and despite solo projects and collaborations with other artists - Big Boi released two critically acclaimed LPs and is producing some of the next Modest Mouse album - it wasn’t until 2013 that they would reunite, on a remix of Frank Ocean's ‘Pink Matte’.
Since their debut, 1994 album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, Outkast have risen through the ranks to become rap legends, and – like many of the acts that have made returns in the last few years – fans would be delighted to see the pair back in the studio and on the live scene.
