CMJ Music Marathon Returns In Its 33rd Year With More Incredible Showcases
Expect an amazing New York takeover with CMJ Music Marathon's awesome 2013 line-up.
The CMJ Music Marathon comes to New York City for its 33rd year bringing with it hundreds of seminal artists from the newly emerging to the well-established.
CMJ has been holding electrifying music events over the course of its existence as well as publishing a weekly music magazine for music and college radio stations. This year will be no different in excellence on its journey through New York from October 15th-19th as it fills over 80 venues across the city with more than 1,000 incredible musical showcases. There will also be a range of other musical events including seminars Q&A sessions, amazing parties, workshops and other special activities.
Irish chart toppers Kodaline will perform live on October 16th at the Bowery Ballroom - a show that should prove to be a major hit given their fantastic explosion into the industry. Another Irish band, Kid Karate, will play the following Friday at Fat Baby while Newcastle's Dan Croll - whose debut album we're still eagerly awaiting - hits up Thursday at the Mercury Lounge. Other fairly new artists that will make appearances around and about include LA solo act Big Black Delta, Chicago singer Willis Earl Beal and Eleanor Friedberger who only recently embarked on a solo career after taking a hiatus from The Fiery Furnaces. Some of the more established bands that will no doubt serve as some of the week's highlights are English rapper Example, Oregon duo The Helio Sequence and alt-rock five-piece You Me At Six.
To gain access to this amazing talent coming later this month, you can register online for a badge with the option of a student discount. You'll also get immediate access to some of the special parties that will be happening all week as well as a complimentary gift bag and a Festival Guide.
Elsewhere around the festival, there will be excellent showcases from Ben Caplan and the Casual Smokers, Crocodiles, Doe Paoro, Half Moon Run, The History of Apple Pie, Real Estate, Royal Bangs, Savages and Talib Kweli and The Dismemberment Plan who are releasing their first album since reforming in 2010.
