Chris Evans, the man behind the Steve Rogers, or Captain America, in the Marvel universe, says he is ready to quit acting and concentrate on directing. The 32-year-old - whose new movie The Winter Soldier has been described as the greatest comic book movie of all time - says he will honor his Marvel commitments but will no longer star in other projects.

Evans has created three movies as Captain America, origins story The Avengers, Captain America and Winter Soldier -which hits theaters on April 4.

However, Evans has been spending his spare time on directorial projects and recently shot a $3 million love story tentatively called 1:30 Train, which focuses on a young woman (Alice Eve) who missed her ride home at Grand Central Terminal and spends the night talking to a street musician (Evans). He shot the movie on Manhattan's Lower East Side in 19 days.

"I've known for a while I wanted to direct," Evans told Variety, "But (time) never really opens up. There's another movie to do, there's another acting job. It just got to a point where I was like, you know what - I have to do this."

"If I'm acting at all, it's going to be under Marvel contract, or I'm going to be directing," he added, "I can't see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I'm contractually obligated to do."

Evans is certainly part of a new generation of actors tied to the lucrative movie franchise market, with Jennifer Lawrence, Andrew Garfield, Robert Pattinson and others.
