BBC Children in Need has come around again and today (5th September) marks the launch of official fundraising. The charitable campaign, set up to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people, has raised £690 million since and the plans are for this year to be bigger than ever.

Famous faces have added their name to the Children in Need campaign and will appear in adverts to persuade everyone in Britain to organise a fundraising event or donate money. Sir Terry Wogan, boybands JLS and Union J, The One Show presenter Alex Jones, ex-Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker and singer/X Factor judge Gary Barlow have all signed up to be the faces of the massive money raising event.

Children in Need's life president Terry Wogan has urged British people to get involved in the excellent cause: "Another year older and my childhood is almost ancient history, though memories from back then are very fond ones. I was lucky. Mine was a happy childhood but for many children in the UK, this isn't the case, which is why the BBC started BBC Children in Need. Get involved. Go on, you know you want to. Together we can make 2013 our greatest year ever," he said.

Even JLS have banded together despite their impending break-up to trumpet the benefits of helping the UK's most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and have featured in the official BBC Children in Need photoshoot, posing with Pudsey the Bear.

Ideas promoted by the celebrities include sponsored events such as wearing your pyjamas all day, taking part in a fun run or staying silent for money. Other events suggested include a bake sale, a talent show or a concert to get as much money raised as possible.

Gary Barlow also spoke of the importance of getting involved and doing as much as you're able to for charity: "I'm doing my bit for BBC Children in Need, are you? Whether you bake, race, dress-up or sing, every penny goes towards making a difference to the lives of children and young people based here in the UK."

David Ramsden, BBC Children in Need boss added: "Children across the UK urgently need our help and we can only be there for them thanks to the incredible generosity, imagination and commitment of our supporters. This year we hope that everyone will get involved, have fun and raise money that will change young lives!"

If you want to get involved and organise a fundraising event, you can download the official pack from the BBC. The televised appeal night, where Pudsey Bear calls on all your favourite stars to help raise cash, will be on Friday 15th November.
