The release date for the Magic Mike sequel, Magic Mike XXL, has been set for the 3rd June 2015, according to Deadline. The follow-up to Stephen Soderbergh's immensely successful 2012 comedy will see Channing Tatum reprise his role as level-headed stripper, Mike, alongside returning cast Alex Pettyfer, Matthew Mcconaughey, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello.

"I think everyone's gonna be back," the 33 year-old actor told MTV, weakening rumours that the Oscar-winning McConaughey wouldn't appear for a second film. "Obviously no-one's deal are done which is always kind of scary." The Jupiter Ascending star also hinted at the sequel's plot: "This one will be a road trip movie. Without giving a lot away, we don't wanna make it a really serious, slice-of-life movie. We want to have reality in it, but we don't want to make it some dark drama."

"There was some darkness in the last one that I think surprised people and shocked people. "This one, we want there to be a lot of conflict and a lot of struggle, but we also want there to be a shit-ton of fun. A s**t-ton of just ridiculous stuff that you would never see in a movie." The original movie cost $7million to make and took $167million at the worldwide box office, proving to be one of Soderbergh's most lucrative movies ever.
Channing Revealed That 'Magic Mike XXL' Would Involve A Roadtrip.
The Magic Mike concept is based on Tatum's own experiences as a male stripper who performed under the pseudonym Chan Crawford before he became a movie star. Magic Mike XXL will be released on the 3rd June 2015.
