Green stated that he doesn't plan on returning to the NBC show "at all" but will still "continue [his] relationship," with the television network.

"I'm going to continue my relationship with NBC," Green tells Ellen. "I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I'm going to miss 'The Voice' too. So I'm not coming back guys."

"CeeLo Green has been an instrumental part of the success of The Voice and we deeply appreciate all his contributions," said NBC reality TV chief Paul Telegdy in a statement confirming Green's announcement. "We're looking forward to working with him on other upcoming projects that will tap into both his musical and entertainment expertise."

The decision for him to leave the show has been speculated to be because the 'Forget You' singer has never coached a winning contestant. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are the only coaches to have produced winners under their tutelage.

Green continued to tell the television host that he doesn't want to "wear out his welcome" as a coach, which he has been from season 1-3, and then returned for this season after a hiatus.

"Yeah, I just want to . I don't want to wear out my welcome there. You know what I'm saying," Green said. "I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven't released an album in four years. I'm almost done with my album."
