Chasing $1m in 'Nebraska' - Pure Black & White Suave [Trailer]

Everything about the Nebraska trailer screams charming, except it’s so charming it doesn’t scream it; it just slowly and assertively says it in a cool American accent.

Story: Woody Grant is an old boy, unassuming, set in his ways and partial to a drink or two. He’s not privy to the luxurious side of life. Although he’s never really experienced it, but when $1m is promised to him via a marketing company talking about a huge sweepstakes prize, he sets his mind to claiming his money.

Remember when we said he wasn’t used to luxury? It was about 9 seconds ago. Well, he doesn’t seem to have a car, and sets about walking to Lincoln, Nebraska. That’s over 800 miles, which would take, say, 10 days to walk; and that’s for someone young and fit, not an old man.

Enter Grant’s son, played by Will Forte – who you may remember from his wonderfully funny turn in Flight of the Concords. He’s convinced the whole thing is a scam, but is caught up with the twin concerns of his father getting conned and letting him live a fantasy in his last days. Either way, he accompanies on his trip.

Out of the woodwork crawl myriad folks intent on getting a piece of Woody’s money; the money he’s yet to claim, and, in all likelihood, doesn’t exist.

There’s an outside chance Nebraska could upset the Academy’s apple cart. It’s unlikely that it’ll muscle its way into a conversation with Monuments Men, 12 Years a Slave and The Counselor, but a nomination in the Best Actor category for Bruce Dern isn’t a preposterous notion, especially considering his Cannes Film Festival win.

Nebraska also stars June Squibb, Stacy Keach and Bob Odenkirk. It is set to be released in the UK on December 6th 2013.
