The veteran actor made the shocking revelation while promoting his new war drama 'Fury.'
Over his illustrious movie career, Brad Pitt has shown why he is one of Hollywood's most talented stars by playing a variety of characters from good guys to bad, but whenever it came to portraying someone with a firearm, not a lot of acting was required.
Pitt has been a gun owner nearly all his life
Pitt, who is thought of as one of the most liberal A-Listers, recently made a rather shocking revelation when promoting his new war drama 'Fury' with the U.K.'s Radio Times, he admitted to inheriting and owning a gun while in kindergarten.
"There's a rite of passage where I grew up of inheriting your ancestors' weapons," he explained. "My brother got my dad's. I got my grandfather's shotgun when I was in kindergarten."

Pitt further elaborated that he was initially handed an air gun, but around 6 years-old his parents gave him the shotgun. And only two years later, the veteran actor admitted he fired his first handgun.
"The positive is that my father instilled in me a profound and deep respect for the weapon," Pitt said, while also revealing he doesn't feel comfortable unless there is a firearm in the home he shares with his wife, Angelina Jolie, and their children.

This isn't the first instance Pitt has gushed about being a gun owner, in 2012 be told the Daily Mail, "America is a country founded on guns. It's in our DNA."
"It's very strange, but I feel better having a gun," he added. "I don't feel the house is completely safe if I don't have one hidden somewhere. That's my thinking, right or wrong."
