'Borrowed Time' Teaser Release, Catch A Sneak Peek At This Unique British Comedy [Trailer]

As the UK independent movie market becomes more competitive than ever with over 200 films made, directors like Jules Bishop have begun to utilise crowd-funding websites, such as Kickstarter to raise the thousands needed to make and launch a movie.

'Borrowed Time' Will Tickle You With Its Unlikely Hilarity.

Borrowed Time tells the story of a hapless young burglar named Kevin (Theo Barklem-Biggs)nand the relationship he has with his would-be victim, an eccentric old man, Philip (Philip Davis). Upon Kevin's gunpoint hostage in Philip's home, the pair form a very unlikely bond that will help them find a way of solving their respective troubles.

Kevin is indebted to a local gangster named Ninja and is resistant to the petty thief lifestyle, preferring instead to make things right with his girlfriend Becky (Juliet Oldfield). Whereas Philip wants to restore his youth and agility that has faded in his old age.

The film is the directorial debut of Jules Bishop and after premiering at the Edinburgh International Film Festival has earned acclaim from critics. "Writer-director Jules Bishop reinvents the urban youth flick as a sweet-natured character-led charmer," writes Time Out whilst Screen International says "The unlikely bond between a teenage delinquent and a curmudgeonly old recluse is explored with a combination of wit, pathos and finely nuanced performances."

According to the film's Kickstarter page, Borrowed Time was made for just £120,000 in 2011 with financing from Film London and BBC Films Microwave scheme. The comedy was shot over 18 days in East London with a dedicated cast and crew. Bishop then turned to crowd-funding to get his movie into cinemas, citing the need for a trailer, a PR representative and a cinema booker when inviting donations. The movie raised £21,721 of its £20,000 goal throughout January and February 2013 and then it was all systems go for the British indie.

Borrowed Time will be released in the UK on the 13th September 2013.
