Bob Dylan - National Portrait Gallery A New Collection Of Works By Bob Dylan

A series of 12 pastel works by Bob Dylan will be exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London, starting later in August. The iconic musician has often explored the world of visual arts throughout his career, but he hasn’t exhibited any of his work in Britain since 2008, when a selection of his drawings between 1989 and 1992 went on show at the Halcyon Gallery.

Throughout his career, Bob Dylan has worked in various mediums.

According to NME, the director of the National Portrait Gallery, Sandy Nairne, had this to say about the upcoming exhibition: "Bob Dylan is one of the most influential cultural figures of our time. He has always created a highly visual world either with his words or music, or in paints and pastels."

His work, whether it be music or painting, has always been very visual.

This current collection is entitled Bob Dylan: Face Value and it will premiere at the London gallery on August 24. Those, who can’t make it to the gallery in the coming month needn’t worry, however. It will remain at the museum until January 5, 2014. This isn’t the only new work Dylan is releasing in the coming year. In fact, the multi-talented singer/songwriter is releasing a collection of music later this month, entitled The Bootleg Series, Vol. 10 - Another Self Portrait (1969-1971). The compilation, which ties in nicely with the theme of visual art, will contain a number of rare and previously unreleased recordings from the period, most of which were born during the recording sessions for Dylan’s 10th and 11th studio albums, Self Portrait and New Morning. The album will debut on August 26.
