Blink 182 Confirm Long Awaited Album #7 And Apologise To Fans For The Wait

Blink 182’s Tom DeLonge has alleviated fears that the long delay in news surrounding the band’s new album means no new album at all. It’s coming, pop-punk fans.

The guitarist/vocalist posted a throwback picture of him and his 182 band mates – Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker – on Instagram with a telling caption: "Rehearsals start today...And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink"

Given the band’s penchant for lengthy delays in their output – 2005-2009 saw nothing come out under the Blink 182 name while the guys worked on solo material – fans of the 90s pop-punk icons could be forgiven for thinking a seventh studio album would never materialise. Well, any fears of that have been well and truly put to rest.

“Once we start, it moves. It’s like painting, you know? You’ve just got to start with that first brushstroke, and get your clothes off, and get the other person’s clothes off, get a little bit of feces, smear it around. Just get going,” explained DeLonge to MTV of the recording process last September.

More: Blink 182 will headline Reading and Leeds

There hasn’t been an album release from Blink since “Neighborhoods” in 2011, which was the same year the band split from Interscope. They then self-financed the "Dogs Eating Dogs" EP release in 2012 while their much-loved album “Enema of the State” celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, as if you needed proof of their credentials.

While working separately from Blink, DeLonge has been working with his other band, Angels and Airwaves, for the last few years while bassist Hoppus started a new project entitled Nothing and Nobody. And Barker has stayed busy by drumming for anybody and everybody famous/rich enough to tempt him.
