No Big Surprises as Big Bang Theory Stars Sign Big Contracts For Big Money

The Big Bang Theory Season 8 is back on track after the folks at Warner Bros TV picked up the toys from the boardroom floor and placed them carefully back in Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and Johnny Galecki’s respective prams.

Big Bang TheoryThe core Big Bang cast

The trio has been asking for ‘Friends money’, something akin to what the gang were getting per episode for the last two seasons of the legendary sitcom, anyway. And while, to many sensible humans that seems like an incredibly skewed and selfish outlook on life, they are attracting ‘Friends viewing figures’, so it was only a matter of time before they were given what they were demanding.

And, if E! are to be believed, the trio at the centre of the decade’s most popular sitcom got more than they asked for, and have a three year deal to boot. Deadline are reporting that the three season deal will land Parsons, Cuoco and Galecki $90-$100m during the lifetimes of the contracts. Don’t feel sorry for WBTV, though: the company still is expected to clear $1 billion in profits.

As for on-screen bro-couple Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg, no contracts have been signed. The pair are thought to be asking for less than their more marketable counterparts – Parson’s Sheldon is the most decorated character on the show and a fan-fave to boot, while Gelecki’s Leonard and Cuoco’s Penny share an on-screen on-off relationship akin to that of Ross & Rachel’s. Given that sizable raises handed out already, though, it’s likely Howard and Raj will get the financial boosts they so desire.

And while a few fans may have been worried that their beloved geek-com wouldn’t be back on screens, bosses were never that worried. CBS boss Nina Tassler said:  "We're feeling very confident that everything will work out. These deals manage to get done miraculously somehow year after year,” when it was revealed the show’s stars were after a rise. Creator Chuck Lorre also told E! News everything will work out. "It will be fine," Lorre said earlier this month. "Warner Brothers has done this before. Everybody should be very successful and happy and rich. They earned it. It's a great cast. Great cast. It's their time."
