Disneynature’s 'Bears' – “An Epic Story of Breathtaking Scale” – [Trailer]
Bears will land on Earth day
Following the success of Chimpanzee, Disneynature are releasing Bears on Earth Day - April 18, 2014 – and will donate a portion of the box office to the National Park Foundation through the Disney Worldwide Conservation fund. Sound good? Then check out the trailer below.
"In an epic story of breathtaking scale, Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure “Bears” showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life’s most important lessons,” reads the official synopsis on the Disney Website.
The story follows a big mummy-bear and her two new cubs as she takes them across snowcapped mountains and freezing forests in search of food and warmth. All based on real-life bears, the narrative comes through editing and the stunning camerawork from BBC’s legendary Natural History producer Alastair Fothergill.
“Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, their journey begins as winter comes to an end and the bears emerge from hibernation to face the bitter cold,” continues the synopsis. “The world outside is exciting—but risky—as the cubs’ playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches.”
With the release of Bears, Disney is following a proven formula: their formidable name and a nation’s love of nature. Chimpanzee – released April 18th last year – saw the adorable story of Oscar – a common chimp left alone in the African rainforests – reach people’s hearts. Other films in their repertoire include Earth, Wings of Life, African Cats, Oceans and The Crimson Wing.
