Christian Bale - Batkid's Crime Fighting In Gotham Attracts Praise From Christian Bale

5-year-old Miles Scott, aka Batkid wowed Gotham City (a transformed San Francisco) with his heroic antics on Friday. Miles has been battling cancer since he was 18 months old but on Friday, with the disease in remission, the Make-A-Wish foundation fulfilled his wish of being Batman for a day. The Foundation’s call for volunteers snowballed into a city-wide event, centered around the little boy and the news got so big, that even some actual (well, using the term loosely) Batmen reached out to Miles to congratulate him on his victory – as Batman and in real life.

Miles saved Gotham from the evil of The Penguin.

"I looked on the news and I saw this headline and thought, 'What's that?' And I saw all the pictures of him running around and saving people. It's so touching," "The Dark Knight" trilogy's Christian Bale told Vulture Saturday.

The actor went on to praise the Twitter campaign that led to the large-scale event, despite not being that well-versed in social media himself.

"I'm so far behind the times when it comes to things like that, I'm a dinosaur," Bale said for Vulture. "I've never been on Twitter, but how great a thing that it can create something like that! I mean, wonderful. This little kid, oh my God — what a wonderful day for the little fella! It's just fantastic, seeing all those people who were out there to support it."

Christian Bale, The Dark Knight Rises European Premiere
The Dark Knight himself congratulated Miles and Make-A-Wish.

Bale is only one of the many people supporting Miles. On Friday, a crowd of close to 12,000 came out to cheer on the tiny superhero and his little brother, dressed up as Robin. The team went on a four-hour adventure to track down and defeat The Riddler and The Penguin and to save a damsel in distress and a kidnapped mascot. Their heroic deeds didn’t go unnoticed outside of San Francisco either. Even President Obama congratulated Miles, sharing a special Vine message on Friday.
