As Mariah Silences Nick, Who Will Get Custody Of The Twins?
As their marriage takes a tumble, both Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon admit their children come first
The public is used to Hollywood marriages coming and going with the words ‘irreconcilable differences’ a showbiz phrase that glosses over the most controversial of splits. What very rarely happens, however, are revelations of truth by the famous individuals involved in very public relationship breakdowns - this is until Nick Cannon rolled on the scene.
The 33-year-old actor and television personality recently very openly admitted that he and his songstress wife, Mariah Carey, are struggling and stated that "there is trouble in paradise...we have been living in separate houses for a few months."
Fans of the beautiful couple may have rejoiced at such a frank disclosure of relationship difficulties but Carey herself, known as a bit of a diva at times, has reportedly reacted badly to Cannon’s revelations.
According to TMZ, Carey, 44, and Cannon’s lawyers have created a confidentiality agreement which means that he can no longer speak out about the pair’s impending divorce, with severe financial penalties if he violates the terms.
Of course, more importantly than who says what is what will happen to the couple’s three-year-old fraternal twins: daughter, Monroe Cannon and son, Moroccan Cannon.
Cannon has recently stated that his kids are now his "main focus" as settlement negotiations regarding the couple’s four lavish properties and other numerous assets have reportedly begun.
A representative for Mariah Carey has stated she is focusing on her children
It seems Carey’s top priority is also her children with her rep telling US Weekly, "I don’t comment on Mariah’s personal life but Mariah is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour."
Hollywood Life reported that it is more than likely that neither Carey nor Cannon will get full custody and will instead share the task of raising their two children.
Carey hit a professional stumbling block recently when her newest album, Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse, released in May 2014, underperformed in sales, despite receiving generally positive reviews.
Cannon, meanwhile, continues to host American’s Got Talent, a reality show currently in its ninth season, this being the sixth in which Canon has been at the helm.
