'Batman Arkham Knight' Delayed For Town Planning Reasons

The hugely anticipated Batman game, Arkham Knight has been subject to a pretty serious delay, Rocksteady Studios have announced. It was supposed to be one of 2014’s biggest releases, but has now been pushed back to 2015 so they can get it 100% right.

Batman: Arkham Knight

"We just want to make this the best experience that we can, and that takes time," Rocksteady Studios marketing manager Guy Perkins told GameSpot. "We feel that we have an absolutely awesome game in the works, and we want to make it as great as it possibly can be. We just need more time to do that. If we didn't give the team more time to do it, then we would be releasing something that we weren't happy with. We want to make sure we're absolutely nailing it 100 percent."

Arkham Knight is the fourth game in the Arkham series, following on from Asylum, City and Origins. A two year gap actually represents consistency for the franchise, with the games coming in 2009, 2011, 2013 and now, 2015. It looks like one year just isn’t enough time to create a world befitting the legend. Arkham Knight is also the first game to feature the Batmobile, which has been a huge draw. It’s also one of the key reasons behind the delay. You can see it in this new trailer released to ease the pain of delay.

"The Batmobile is one thing we just couldn't do on previous gen. It's not just a case of having a car, it's a case of building a city where the car feels at home," he said. "So if we were to try and bring the Batmobile into Arkham City, for example, the streets aren't conducive to that driving experience. You have to create a much bigger environment to house the vehicle," added Perkins.
