"Yes! I bagged tickets for Ant and Dec!" nobody has ever said, ever. Even when they were pop stars. But now, the comedy duo are trying to persuade the British people to part with their cash and stump up £40 to watch a live version of Saturday Night Takeaway in one of the various soulless hangers across the country.

The showbiz duo will take the show to 12 UK arenas next summer before the popular show returns to screens in autumn 2014. The news comes after speculation that the pair could be planning an American version.

"Takeaway is the one show that people always tell us they'd love to be in the audience for, so we've decided to take the show to them!" they told Digital Spy, "Just like the TV show, the audience will have a chance of winning some fantastic prizes as well as being an essential part of the show."

They added: "It's been an ambition of ours for a long time to go on tour, and we can't wait to hit the road!"

The Paddy McGuiness vehicle Take Me Out is heading to Birmingham NEC before Christmas, but can Saturday Night Takeaway work in the same way? The show promises "audiences surprises" and "special guest stars" as well as potential prizes for those shelling out for tickets - which is something. It's going to be like huge raffle, basically.

The live shows should at least deliver aesthetically, with Olympics closing ceremony artistic director Kim Gavin on-board.

The shows will go on sale next Friday (November 8, 2013) at 9am
