Angelina Jolie To Direct Second Film, 'Unbroken,' In Australia

Whilst Brad Pitt films World War II army movie Fury in the UK, Angelina Jolie is busily filming her new movie and second step into directing, Unbroken. The movie will be adapted from the best-selling novel by Laura Hillenbrand that tells the story of a WWII pilot named Louis Zamperini.

Olympic runner turned bombardier, Zamperini managed to survive for 47 days adrift at sea on a raft after he was shot down in the Pacific and sent to a Japanese prisoner of war camp. The lead character will be played by Skins' Jack O'Connell whilst Tron: Legacy's Garrett Hedlund and About Time's Domhnall Gleeson will co-star.

Whilst Jolie is currently in Australia to put preparations in order for her new movie, the filming will not actually begin until 21 October, reports THR. With a release date pencilled in for Christmas Day 2014, Jolie will have plenty of time to make sure she makes the movie just as she wants it.

The mother-of-five has had a rather incredible year that began with the startling news that she was a carrier of the BRCA1 breast cancer gene and had opted to undergo a double mastectomy to eliminate her chances of developing the devastating cancer. Jolie's candid newspaper article explaining her decision is credited with inspiring other women to get checked and could have even saved other lives.

Jolie has been promoting her 2011 Bosnian war drama In The Land of Blood and Honey and has given speeches at film screenings stating the importance of the film. The 38 year-old has emerged as the highest earning female actress of the past year, raking in $33 million.
