The Hollywood star broke the news to her fans via a video released by Universal Studios Entertainment, in which she can be seen wearing a white tank top with visible red spots covering her upper body.

"I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chickenpox," she said to the camera. "So, I will be home itching and missing everyone, and I can't believe it, because this film means so much to me. I just can't believe it. But such is life, there it is. And send everyone my love, and hope everything goes well."

As well as the short clip, which was posted on the studio's official Facebook page, was a message announcing her husband Brad Pitt will attend all scheduled events on her behalf. "Monday night, her children and Brad will attend to represent her. Brad's family has flown in for the occasion, and are all looking forward to seeing the film," the announcement read.

According to the film studio's post, Jolie also said, "You have to laugh at the timing, I was sure nothing could stop me from supporting Unbroken. I am heartbroken to miss our premiere, most of all the chance to be there with Louie's family, Phil's daughter Karen, veterans and all the guests who are coming."
