After starring in Disney's 'Maleficent,' tying the knot with the love of her life Brad Pitt, being named an honorary dame and releasing her most latest directorial effort, the WWII movie 'Unbroken,' to rave reviews, it is safe to say Angelina Jolie has had a very successful 2014.

Jolie recently looked back on having a very successful 2014

The Hollywood actress recently looked back at her achievements in the past twelve months while talking with Us Weekly, but also spoke candidly about being apprehensive with certain projects and the struggle to reach her goals.

"It's been an amazing year. I married my love, my son [Maddox] became a teenager, and I got to bring [Unbroken] to the world," she told the magazine.

But Jolie did feel very anxious when taking the helm of 'Unbroken,' which tells the true story of Olympic athlete and WWII hero Louie Zamperini, who survived a plane crash in the Pacific, then was 47 days adrift at sea and spent two and a half years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp.

"I'd only directed only one other film [2011's In the Land of Blood and Honey], which was very small in comparison. I had to prove I could handle locations, the budget, balancing two plane crashes, the visual effects and the technical aspects," she explained. "I over prepared [pitching the movie to studio executives], with all these graphs, maps, images and boards that I tied together and put in a garbage bag. Then I didn't hear anything for three days. It was terrible!"

The 38-year-old actress obviously did a very good job as she is closing out the year by directing her latest flick 'By the Sea,' which she also stars in alongside her hubby Brad Pitt. "Brad is wonderful to work with," she said. "It's another little independent film, a very heavy movie about marriage and life. But it was nice for us just to be actors together and work hard and really push ourselves."

As for what her future holds, Jolie admitted, "I would be happy when [acting] is over. If I am lucky enough to have a career as a director, it would be a very nice transition. And then, when I can, Brad and I can work together."
