J.J Abrams' 'Almost Human' Won't Go Past Season 1 - Cancelled

It’s been an up and down week for J.J Abrams. He finally announced his cast for his upcoming Star Wars Episode VII sequel, but his show ‘Almost Human’ has been cancelled by Fox, according to Variety.

Almost Human followed the partnership of a suspicious cop (Karl Urban) and an android capable of emotion (Michael Ealy). The cast also includes Minka Kelly, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Irby, and Lili Taylor. It faired adequately with the critics, garnering enough positive reviews – or negative, depending on how you look at it – to sit at 62 on Metacritic.

It averaged a 3.1/8 share in adults 18-49 with 9.1 million viewers overall. And eve though ratings dipped, it’s finale in March averaged 5.63 million viewers and a 1.5 in the 18-49 demographic. But with little wiggle left in Fox’s box of tricks, ‘Almost Human’ became definitely cancelled.

But J.J Abrams has got bigger Colo claws to sauté; the cast for Star Wars: Episode VII has finally been announced, putting an end to the rumor-mongering and guesswork that preceded the rather encouraging read through photo.

Episode VII will feature John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Andy Serkis and Domhnall Gleeson, who join returning legends Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, while Peter Mayhew is also back as Chewbacca and Kenny Baker will reprise RD-D2.

Abrams said: "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again."

Disney CEO Bob Iger has said the film will be set 30 years after 1983's Return of the Jedi. Abrams said filming would begin in a couple of weeks, while the finished product is expected to hit cinemas in December 2015.
