H&M have announced a new collection in collaboration with Balenciaga creative director Alexander Wang, which is seemingly set to debut this winter. The New York-based designer unveiled his latest project last night via his newly-created Instagram profile and set fashion fans into a whirl of anticipation.

"I am honoured to be a part of H&M's designer collaborations," Wang said, via H&M. "The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to pushing boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle."

The short Instagram clip begins with floodlights snapping on before we see "WANG x H&M" appear on a digital board with the timestamp 11:06, which is likely to indicate that the collection will hit stores on the 6th November. The distinct sports theme of the teaser could indicate that Wang's collection will ride on the back of the current sports luxe trend.

Wang's first major collaboration is the latest in an impressive line of high end designers to have created collections with the Swedish high street brand, following Isabel Marant and Maison Martin Margiela. Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson, Versace, Lanvin and Marni have each also worked with the retail giant.

The 30 year-old fashion star reportedly threw an exclusive party on Saturday night at California's Coachella Festival right next to H&M's parallel invite-only bash. "Typical for his irreverent approach, Alexander Wang will propose a new take on the lifestyle product offering that goes beyond fashion," said the retailer in a statement.

The collection will comprise of "apparel and accessories for both men and women" and will be available in 250 stores worldwide as well as online.
