Netflix and Adam Sandler have just announced an exclusive deal which will see the actor produce four original movies for the online streaming service. The announcement comes just days after the company announced their first move into film production, with the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel.

“When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only….Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks,”  Sandler said in a statement. Adding, “Let the streaming begin!!!!”

The actor’s Happy Madison Productions will work alongside Netflix to develop the four titles in which Sandler will star and produce. Further details about the films are yet to be announced, but they are presumed to be comedies.

Speaking after the deal was announced Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos said, “people love Adam’s films on Netflix and often watch them again and again. His appeal spans across viewers of all ages -- everybody has a favourite movie, everyone has a favourite line -- not just in the US but all over the world.”

According to Netflix, Sandler is one of the few actors whose movies consistently rank among the most-viewed by subscribers in the U.S. as well as other regions ranging from Brazil to the U.K. At the box office, Sandler’s films have grossed around $3.9 billion worldwide, however his most recent efforts have had mixed success.

Up next for Sandler at movie theatres will be Men, Women & Children, directed by Jason Reitman’s and The Cobbler, both of which have already premiered at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival.

Earlier this week Netflix announced a deal with the Weinstein Company where Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend, would debut on the streaming service on the same day as it hits Imax theatres. Both deals are part of Netflix's plan to movie into producing original movies thanks to the success of series such as 'House of Cards' and 'Orange is the New Black'.
