Lil' Miss Sunshine Abigail Breslin Drops A Festive Single To Warm Your Heart [Video]

Abigail Breslin stole our hearts in 2006's Little Miss Sunshine and 2009's My Sister's Keeper and has proven her acting talent hasn't diminished in this year's critically-lauded August: Osage County. However, the 17 year-old starlet has shown she has another string to her bow, releasing a heart-felt acoustic Christmas single, 'Christmas in New York.'

The rising star displays her enviable talent for singing, songwriting and playing the guitar in the sweet song. Sure, the lyrics may be a little clunky ("I had a dream last night of a few years ago, sitting underneath the tree. I was smiling wide, as my brothers would fight, over the stupid TV") but the personal track about Breslin's reputedly close-knit family couldn't possibly cause offence.

"I wish right now that it would snow and I wish that it I was home. Because this town really isn't much, I want New York at Christmas," Abigail carefully sings during the chorus. In an interview with Refinery29, Breslin reveals that she welcomed her brother's guitar talents too for her new single. "I wrote it, I sing on it, and I play guitar on it. My brother, Spencer, plays some guitar, too. It was really fun to make," she said.

Breslin revealed that her inspiration to write her own festive song came from "listening to a lot of Christmas music" and interestingly the indie bands The 1975 and Dresses.

Though her memorable indie role in 2006 was certainly memorable, Little Miss Sunshine's Olive could be both a blessing and a curse for the young woman who wants to grow into a fully-fledged star. When she stripped off last month to pose in topless images for photographer Tyler Shields, her decision certainly wasn't met with overwhelming support.

Though Breslin said she wanted to do something "iconic," many of the critics cited her 7 year-old self's Oscar-nominated role in lamenting the actress' supposed loss of innocence.

Hopefully, There'll Be Plenty Of Great Music To Come.

When asked how she handles her heavy "child star" mantle, Breslin was sincere: "I kind of just let it happen naturally. I mean, I think that that's always what you get when you start acting at a young age. I don't really care too much, to be honest with you. I just keep looking to make movies and trying new things. I search for parts that I feel passionate about and tend to ignore labels. I don't really read anything written about me."
