LATEST: Arnold Schwarzenegger has instructed officials in his Austrian home city of Graz to remove his name from the city's soccer stadium, after local politicians attacked his decision to execute California gang leader STANLEY 'TOOKIE' WILLIAMS.
The local Green party raised a petition to strip Arnie of his Austrian citizenship and rename the Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium, after he denied clemency to Williams - who had done much to stem gang violence in Los Angeles during his time in jail.
In response, the California Governor has demanded his name is removed and handed back the city's Ring of Honour, given to him in 1999.
In a letter to the city council, he writes, "In all likelihood, during my term as governor, I will have to make similar and equally difficult decisions.
"In order to spare the responsible politicians of the city of Graz further concern, I withdraw from them as of this day the right to use my name in association with the Liebenauer Stadium."
He adds of the Ring of Honour, "As the official Graz appears to no longer accept me as one of their own, this ring has lost its meaning and value to me. It is already in the mail."
