NBC announced that the former Governor of California would be hiring and firing on 'Celebrity Apprentice' next year.
In the wake of Donald Trump’s dismissal from the network, NBC has announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be the billionaire’s replacement as the host of its reality show ‘Celebrity Apprentice’.
The network made the announcement via a statement on Monday (September 14th) that was reported by Deadline. “Arnold Schwarzenegger is the epitome of a global brand in entertainment and business, and his accomplishments in the political arena speak for themselves,” it said. Arnie is expected to make his debut as the host when the series returns in early 2016.
68 year old Schwarzenegger is, of course, a former governor of California, in office from 2003 to 2011. His rather strange career arc has seen him go from athlete, to actor, to politician and back to actor again in his nearly fifty year time in the limelight. Presumably the catchphrase will have to change from “you’re fired” to “you’re terminated”!
Arnold Schwarzenegger is the new host of 'Celebrity Apprentice'
“It was Arnold’s personal passion for the format that Mark Burnett [the show’s producer] and Donald Trump built over the last decade, as well as his fresh take on how to take it to new heights for today’s audiences, that made him the man to hire,” the statement continued.

Schwarzenegger gave his own reaction separately. “I have always been a huge fan of The Celebrity Apprentice and the way it showcases the challenges and triumphs of business and teamwork. I am thrilled to bring my experience to the boardroom and to continue to raise millions for charity. Let’s get started!”
The Austrian-born megastar has had a successful career in business as a sideline to his main career, starting a bricklaying company with his friend Franco Columbu in 1968. He’s also used his money to make a number of other good investments in real estate, the Planet Hollywood chain and shopping malls. He also set up and then sold his own restaurant in Santa Monica during the ‘90s.
NBC had dropped Trump as a presenter a few months back when the Republican presidential candidacy hopeful described some Mexican immigrants as being criminals and rapists. “At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values,” a representative said at the time. “Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr Trump.”
