Movie muscleman Arnold Schwarzenegger has denied he once admired infamous German dictator Adolf Hitler.

The TERMINATOR star - who is running to become the Governor of California - insists he never made the alleged comments during a 1975 interview for an unpublished book.

ARNIE says, "I don't remember any of those comments because I always despised everything that Hitler stood for."

But American television network ABC says it has a copy of the book which quotes an interview the actor gave while filming PUMPING IRON.

Arnie is alleged to have said, "I admired Hitler, for instance, because he came from being a little man with almost no formal education, up to power.

"I admire him for being such a good public speaker and for what he did with it."

But author George Butler concedes that Arnie's comments need to be placed in context, as the star didn't make any specifically anti-Semitic comments.
