California Governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger has vowed to boost tourism in his new home, Golden State capital Sacramento.
Despite housing California's political office, Sacramento has always lost out to the state's more popular tourist centres, like Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego - but Schwarzenegger has promised to bring more visitors to the city, and his initiative seems to be working already.
Even though the Predator actor has yet to take his seat of power, Sacramento is experiencing an unexpected tourism boom.
JERRY WESTENHAVER, manager of the city's HYATT REGENCY HOTEL, reveals, "We're getting calls from as far away as Australia and England about visiting. Arnold has incredible star power."
Visitors bureau boss STEVE HAMMOND adds, "Arnold is arguably the most famous person in the world, and he brought unprecedented media attention to the city."03/11/2003 21:14
