Ariel Winter’s mother, Chris Workman, has denied allegations of child abuse. The 14 year-old Modern Family star has allegedly taken out a restraining order against her mother, according to People magazine, and has moved out of the house. Her mother, however, simply said “it’s all untrue, it’s all untrue.”

Court papers were filed on October 3, 2012 in Los Angeles, claiming that Alex Winter’s mother subjected her to “ongoing physical abuse (slapping, hitting, pushing) and emotional abuse (vile name-calling, personal insults about minor and minor's weight, attempts to 'sexualize' minor, deprivation of food, etc.) for an extended period of time.” Last month, Ariel – who plays the role of Alex Dunphy on the show – was placed under the temporary guardianship of her sister Shanelle Gray. Chris Workman was ordered by the judge not to contact her daughter, until further notice.

Workman remains resolutely defiant about the charges though and told People magazine that she has proof that her daughter has not been abused – in the form of letters from other people. “I have my doctor's letter that my daughter's never been abused. … I have stylists' letters that she's never been abused." A follow-up hearing has been set for November 20, meaning that Workman is prevented from speaking to her daughter until at least then. Ariel’s representative could not be reached for comment.
