Aretha Franklin is working on a new album.
The 'Respect' hitmaker - who is often referred to as the Queen of Soul after recording a string of top 40 hits throughout her career - was celebrating her 70th birthday at the Helmsley Park Lane Hotel in New York on Saturday (24.03.12) when she announced plans to make new material with US record producer Clive Davis.
She said: ''I have re-signed with Clive Davis, so I'm recording with Clive again.''
Guests at the event, which included Diane Sawyer and Willie Wilkerson, serenaded Aretha with Stevie Wonder's version of 'Happy Birthday' and the 'I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)' singer - who first worked with Clive in the 1980s - revealed the pair are planning to ''sit together and decide what it is we're going to record'' next month.
However, Aretha's planned biopic looks to have hit a stumbling block due to her busy schedule.
She added: ''It's in a limbo position. It's just a lot going on.''
