Annie Lennox is set to swap singing for shop work by launching a celebrity charity store in London.
The Eurythmics star has teamed up with Oxfam to open a temporary shop in famous department store Selfridges which be stocked with clothing and memorabilia donated by stars and staffed by celebrity store assistants.
Lennox will help man the tills when the Oxfam Curiosity shop opens for a week-long run from 14 to 20 May (10), selling goods donated by famous names including Elle MACpherson, director Richard Curtis and Colin Firth's wife Livia.
Proceeds will help fund Oxfam's women's projects around the world in countries such as Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
Jane Shepherdson, boss of fashion brand Whistles, who is helping launch the project, says, "More than two thirds of the world's poorest people are women, yet they struggle to be heard. We saw an opportunity to bring together influential women with valuable skills and contacts to try and make a difference to their lives."
