Anne Hathaway has shared a positive message about post-baby weight loss on Instagram, just months after giving birth to her first child. The actress has previously spoken out about body-shaming towards new mums and says there’s no shame in however long it takes you to lose weight after pregnancy, that's if you want to at all.

"There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever),” Hathaway wrote. “There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all). There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer's are just too dang short for this summer's thighs.”

“Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It's all love (don't let anyone tell you otherwise.) Peace. #noshame #lovewhatyouhavebeengiven.” Back in May, just eight weeks after giving birth to son Jonathan, Hathaway appeared on the ‘Ellen Degeneres Show’ and described how her first trip back to the gym ended up in tears.

While working out Hathaway was asked by a trainer if she wanted some pointers, but after telling him that she had just given birth seven weeks ago the actress was body shamed and ended up leaving in tears.

"If somebody says I had a baby 13 years ago you say you look great. That is what you do that is the etiquette," she told DeGeneres. "So I say to this guy I had a baby seven weeks ago. And he goes, 'Oh, trying to lose the baby weight!’" Hathaway then said that she kept her cool and simply told him it was a little too soon for her to be thinking about losing weight, but added that after she walked away she “cried a little”.
