LATEST: A planned jury inquest into the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son DANIEL may be cancelled if tests prove he died of natural causes after all.
Daniel died in his mother's hospital room in the Bahamas on 10 September (06) aged 20, just three days after the birth of his half-sister Hannah.
According to Chief Magistrate ROGER GOMEZ, authorities are reconsidering the need for the inquest, which had been scheduled for 23 October (06) and would have included Anna Nicole as a witness.
Gomez insists pending toxicology tests may in fact show that Daniel's death was not suspicious after all.
He says, "If the results show that the cause of death was natural, then there will be no inquest."
Media reports have claimed that Daniel was taking anti-depressant medication when he died and that he may have even been hospitalised for an elevated heart rate and stomach problems.
