Anna Calvi's 'Desire' is the second single to be released from her self-titled debut album and was released on June 20th.
From an early age, Anna Calvi was exposed to a wide variety of music and at the age of 17 opted to do a music degree instead of one in art. She started a short-lived band called Cheap Hotel, recording and releasing one song, 'New York' which didn't chart.
Former Roxy Music keyboardist Brian Eno became her mentor of sorts and once described Anna as 'the biggest thing since Patti Smith', in an interview with BBC 6 Music. He also appears on 'Desire', singing backing vocals.
In 2010, Anna supported the New York band Interpol on their UK tour, as well as the Arctic Monkeys. Her debut single was also released in October of the same year, a cover of the song 'Jezebel', made famous by French singer Edith Piaf. Her debut album was released in January this year and entered the UK album charts at number 40.
This year, Anna Calvi toured Europe throughout February and April, as well as completing an American tour in March. The UK and Irish dates are as follows:
