Angie Stone's publicist insists a mix up over the singer's recent change of address is to blame for her traffic arrest on Sunday (27Mar11) - because a previous speeding fine was sent to her old home.
The Wish I Didn't Miss You hitmaker, real name Angela Brown, was pulled over by cops in Georgia on suspicion of speeding, and she was taken into custody when a police search revealed there was a warrant out for Stone's arrest.
She was booked on two counts of speeding and driving on a suspended licence and subsequently released, but her spokesperson insists the star's legal trouble is the result of one big mix-up.
Her rep tells Tmz.com Stone did not receive official notification of the penalty for an earlier traffic incident, so the ticket went unpaid - prompting authorities to issue the warrant and ban her from driving.
The outstanding speeding fine has now been settled and Stone, 49, is currently working out her latest legal issues.
